What We Don't Like

OontZ Angle 3 from Cambridge SoundWorks combines just about everything an affordable Bluetooth speaker should have. Needless to say, it is among the best models you can get at the moment for less than $50.

The main purpose of a Bluetooth speaker is to give you a decent enough audio in a portable, wireless package. With that said, there are many different designs out there, each trying to be unique. The only issue here is that some brands get lost in this effort to stand out on the market, that they completely disregard the functionality of their product. Cambridge SoundWorks took a different approach.

This Bluetooth speaker is triangular in profile. The result of such design is an extremely stable but versatile speaker. You don’t have to worry about it tipping over. OontZ Angle 3 is also IPX5 certified, meaning that it is water resistant. All of the surfaces, aside from the side panels, are covered in speaker grille.

Those side panels are where the controls are located. Easy to access, and very tactile. Just picking the Angle 3 up gives you an impression that you are dealing with a device that is built fairly well.

In terms of features, Cambridge SoundWorks OontZ Angle 3 brings all the basics. Let’s start with the most important aspects – power and battery life. For such a small package, Angle 3 packs a decent amount of power. It is capable of delivering 10 Watts peak power. While that is not an RMS rating, which we would have appreciated more, this little thing is fairly loud.

Two drivers installed behind the front grille will get you quite a bit of volume on demand. When it comes to battery and battery life, Cambridge SoundWorks went with a 2200mAh unit that will last for up to 12 hours of constant use. That is a very generous number considering how cheap OontZ Angle 3 is. In terms of connectivity, it hooks up to any Bluetooth device rather easily. On top of that, you also get a 3.5mm AUX cable.

What’s great about Angle 3 is that it comes with a built-in speaker, meaning that you can use it as a hands-free device.

Performance wise, OontZ Angle 3 comes with certain limitations as well as benefits which are too significant to ignore. For its compact size, the volume is more than decent. We have already mentioned that. However, what we haven’t mentioned is that pushing the speakers even to the max volume, won’t produce distortion.

Sure, this speaker will work best for smaller rooms as it is limited by its power. Using it outside is possible given that you keep in your immediate vicinity. Here’s where things get pretty interesting. OontZ Angle 3 is small enough to fit in your cup holder. Since it has a built-in speaker, you can easily use it as a hands-free device for your car.

The IPX5 rating makes it water resistant, which is not to be mistaken for waterproof. In short, it can take splashes, light rain and similar. Even so, it is definitely recommended that you don’t submerge this speaker.

The Rumble:

Cambridge SoundWorks OontZ Angle 3 represents a very generous package that is extremely affordable, comes with all the core features as well as performance. If you need a simple Bluetooth speaker, this is it.
