What We don't like
Earlobe hooks, although effective and functional, can be limiting in terms of comfort.
Wireless earbuds used to be considered as a gimmick in their early stages. Needless to say, that time is long gone. Today we are looking at TaoTronics Wireless Earbuds. These are easily some of the most capable earbuds you can get under $50. Let’s find out why.
The fact that you’re dealing with a wireless setup dictates the type of design you can expect to see to a great extent. One of the issues that wireless earbuds have to address is a solid retention system. This is due to the lack of cable and its mass to help with keeping the earbuds in place. Fortunately for us, TaoTronics happens to be one of the most experienced brands in this regard. Their retention solutions have proven to be quite efficient, which also includes the model we’re looking at today. One thing you’ll notice right away is that TaoTronics went with a subtle but ultimately ergonomic earlobe hook. Due to the light weight of the entire package, you won’t really feel it at all. When it comes to build quality, these are quite impressive. Not only are they built tough, but TaoTronics also ensured the IPX6 level of protection.
TaoTronics Wireless Earbuds are generally considered as optimal sports earbuds. With that in mind, the features offered are streamlined toward meeting the needs of fitness oriented users. In other words, you are looking at a durable and comfortable set of earbuds that will stay in place even if you decide to go for a jog or a full on sprint. On top of that, you have 9 hours of battery life per charge making these one of the better wireless models in this price range. Where TaoTronics really delivers is the built in microphone. They obviously wanted to give their users a clear line of communication no matter what because the mic is loaded with advanced noise canceling technology. One of the more awesome features of the TaoTronics Wireless Earbuds is their magnetic chassis. The idea is that you can snap them together when not in use.
When it comes to performance, TaoTronics Wireless Earbuds have proven to be quite competitive. Usually when you are dealing with wireless designs, the focus is shifted from sound quality to other things such as battery life. However, that is not the case with these earbuds. It’s not that TaoTronics didn’t focus on battery life. On the contrary, but they also invested a fair bit of effort into making these earbuds sound as good as they do. We see plenty of range in both the trebles and mids. Moving down to bass region of the frequency range reveals a tight but wide landscape. These aren’t the kind of earbuds that will shatter your ears with a muddy deep bass. Instead, you get a civilized amount of low end power which works with, not against those strong mids and accurate trebles. We, much like others, find that to be the optimal configuration.
It's no secret that wireless earbuds are a whole different ball game. Because of that, we are pretty happy with what TaoTronics has done with this particular model. They've proven to be one of the few brands you can trust.
