With plenty of completion in the sounds department, innovators of different gadgets tend to find ways on how to improve their electronics, whether it is as simple as changing the color or as complex as creating an entirely different concept from scratch. Then one of the companies well-known for their electronic innovations- Pioneer to be precise- came up with a clever idea to combine three awesome areas of listening: movies, music, and gaming. This is where the Pioneer SP-SB23W Andrew Jones Soundbar System comes in. Although it has a price range of $390-$450, with all the features I will mention in this review, I assure you that it is definitely worth every penny.
First of all, I would like to say that this is one of the most attractive speakers on the market. Far from being just a round-of-the-mill box-type system, this beauty offers simple sophistication with its composite wood curved cabinet, which is not simply for the eyes alone. Its dark exterior enables it to blend well with the other systems of your home entertainment area. It actually consists of two parts: the soundbar itself, which measures 36” in length, 4.7” in height, and 4” in depth, and a wireless compact subwoofer for that extra bass punch.
Since this gem was created by the legendary speaker engineer Andrew Jones himself, you’d know that this is no ordinary masterpiece. The composite wood cabinet does more than just making this beauty an eye-candy. This wooden enclosure delivers an excellent resistance to loud volumes, thus reducing any unwanted resonances that you might hear. Bluetooth technology also makes an appearance in this audio gem, enabling you to stream your favorite music wirelessly directly from your Bluetooth-capable devices with just a touch of a button. A remote control is also included with the device, though it is also possible for you to control and adjust settings using any remote control you choose due to a special learning configuration to teach the system to respond to any remote control.
Sound performance from this gem of a speaker is something to look forward to. Boasting of 4x 3” structured surface mid-woofers and 2x 1” soft-dome tweeters, this audio system is certainly equipped to meet the demands of producing a full spectrum of realistic sounds. These six speakers are also powered individually by their own 28-Watt amplifiers for that extra boost in sound delivery. The wireless subwoofer is also a power to be reckoned with. It features a 6.5” driver that is driven by its own 50-Watt amplifier that provides your movie-watching experience with powerful, low-frequency sounds that will put you right in the middle of the action. Speaking of listening, there are actually 3 sound modes you could choose from should you wish a more precise sound delivery depending on what you are listening to. With a push of a button, you can shift from movies, to music, or even dialogue. All of these features, together with the latest in sound technology—Dolby Digital Decoding—would ensure the delivery of crystal-clear sounds in a surround sound listening environment.
In a nutshell, with all the features packed into a slim, stylish package, this beauty is meant to be right in the middle of your home entertainment system.
