What We like
Straight forward, clean and functional functional design makes these great for everyday use.
Tangle-free cable that actually works means that you won't have to deal with knots.
Plenty of range especially in the lower end ensures a good sound.
What We don't like
Aesthetics, although fairly tame, could still turn a few users off.
We feel that there should have been more options in terms of ear bud sizes.
Finding a good set of affordable earbuds is not as easy as it seems. Luckily for us, Betron DC950 has proven to be one of the better models. In fact it is among the best earbuds under $20 at the moment.
Generally speaking, there are only so many ways you can do a set of earbuds. Design is always an important part of most products, but somehow it seems to be especially important with earbuds. Betron did a good job with DC950 to say the least. They have managed to combine a functional exterior with subtle but still provoking color patterns. Speaking of which, DC950 is all about the red and black with a dash of chrome. Compared to most other earbud designs out there, Betron could be classified as conservative. With that said, it takes a bit of time to get used to the chrome elements. In terms of build quality, you are set to go. Betron’s quality control is fairly good. These definitely do inspire confidence, especially if you need something simple but robust. The real value of Betron DC950 however, is in the features and performance.
When it comes to features, Betron DC950 is about as straight forward as they come. You are getting a standard deal which includes a set of pretty decent drivers, a built in microphone and volume controls. Beyond that, we have a tangle free cable which is actually quite successful at remaining untangled even if you just stuff the earbuds into your pocket or bag. Betron DC950 come with three sets of ear bud gels, each one in a different size. One thing to note here is that these buds are pretty good in a sense that they will cover most users. However, if you don’t find your size in the case, Betron’s design will work with a number of other ear bud models on the market. Last but not least, we have the transducer with a frequency range of 20Hz to 20kHz, giving it plenty of low end.
In terms of performance, Betron DC950 are pretty interesting. Once you find your ear bud size and secure these in place, you will notice that they don’t really drop out at all. It probably has something to do with the fact that the ear buds are heavier near the center of the speaker housing. In other words, the center of mass is positioned in a way that ensures they will stay in place. When it comes to sound, things are great. Betron DC950 have proven to have quite a wide lower end with massive bass and plenty of mids. Keep in mind that this extended bass isn’t just there for show. It’s not one of those murky, muddy basses but rather a pretty crisp one. Overall, Betron has found a great performance curve that suits most users. Considering their price, these earbuds offer a great value for the money.
If you are out there trying to find a good sounding set of affordable earbuds, do yourself a favor and check out Betron DC950. There is plenty of performance and value in these. Too much to ignore.
